100-Day Creator Challenge #20: Scrolling
How much time do you spend on your phone?
Sometimes I see scrolling on the phone, hooked to social media or news, as the new smoking. The thing almost everyone did and accepted from each other, but was inherently addictive and bad for your (mental) health.
Maybe phone addiction is even worse, at least mentally, cause with smoking, you’d maybe still be socializing with the people around you. With the phone, you’re “not there,” which I think is especially harmful if you have kids.
Anyway, let me get off my high chair and just ask you this. Do you spend too much time on your phone? And if so, how could you spend the time better?

Politicians Should Write | Chris Wong | 12/28/2022
The only politician's writing that I've read is Ron Paul (Besides an occasional Op-Ed). I'm not talking about speeches, I mean enough writing to actually get a sense of what they really stand for. You can't expect big politicians to do this.

‘Tis the season for goal-planning, new years resolutions, words of the year, and vision boards. Got Austin Kleon’s newsletter today and he talked about this thing called Dead Week (a term he borrowed from another writer): that bit of dead air between Christmas and New Year’s Day where you’ve done what you’ve done for the […]

this morning, after i stumbled out of bed, swallowed an ibuprofen and some vitamins with an exaggerated slug of water and then crawled onto the couch, tugging one of the cats towards me for warmth, Ulrich asked if i remembered the syrupy potion i’d made for him many winters ago when he caught a cold during one of his visits to pittsburgh. he wondered if he should make the same thing to try to cure my current cold or other respiratory infection (multiple COVID tests have all been negative).
