There are numerous studies on the relationship between emotional well-being and salary. The conclusion is that while emotional well-being increases as your salary goes up, it plateaus at $75,000. I think this conclusion is simplistic, but in my experience, it's directionally true.

You might have noticed the images in my last two emails were different than normally. I never planned for this, I must admit. Midjourney—the AI tool I’ve been using to create them—just released a new version 5 last week, and I’ve spent the most of this time trying to figure out what to do with it. Many hours of experimentation and forum threads later, I still have no idea how to consistently achieve the results I’m looking for.

the travel chaos commences tomorrow! Ulrich and i will take a train to Frankfurt, spend the night there and then fly out on Saturday morning. unfortunately our flight is not direct, so we’ll arrive first at JFK and then continue onwards to pittsburgh, landing just a few hours before the onset of european summer time once again flips the time difference between the U.S. and germany from 5 hours back to 6.

To answer the header question: as many would probably relate, to stay up-to-date on the subfields related to my professional and personal interests, I periodically attend physics conferences, as well as those involving discussions on new approaches in education and, separately, on expanding economic opportunity. These events are also good opportunities to build or expand one's network and find potential collaborators.
